This Saturday we had a whole heap of awesome projects lined up. Have a peak below and see what we got up to today!
First up is a stunning orange koi in the process of being completed by owner Horisumi using the tebori method. This client sat like a champ all morning as Horisumi blasted away at the koi’s scales and eventually began on the green of the sakura leaves. Incredible progress was made today!
Next up is a classic, a roaring tiger down the upper arm done in the Japanese style for a repeat client. Horivida is the artist in charge of this eye catching piece, which mirrors the dragon previously done by Horivida on the right arm.
Moving away from traditional Japanese for the moment, Kai is currently working on a full black and grey sleeve. The top half of this tattoo (a scene of a fierce octopus) is still healing, so the image below captures the plan for today’s progress.
Upstairs, Pepper is one of our dedicated walk-in artists of the day. Her first tattoo for today was on a much more delicate but still quite detailed tattoo, two flowers on the hip. Afterwards, this client reported that it was virtually painless, which speaks to both Pepper’s gentle touch and the client’s strength.
Max’s first appointment of the day was after a number of small tattoos. They sat together for a while, discussing the design and perfecting the placement of each new tattoo alongside the client’s older tattoos. We love how they all fit together, it’s quite a nice start to a patchwork sleeve!
Looping back to some large scale tattoos, Aaron’s project for today is an American traditional dragon on the back of the thigh. This tattoo will be done in all colour, but the plan for today is to complete the linework and begin shading. Take a look at Aaron’s instagram to see some progress pictures later on!
On the other side of the studio, Lily and Min are working with two long-term clients; Lily busy with filling out a delicate ornamental sleeve, and Min partway through the final session for a hanya and dragon back piece. We’ll be posting pictures of the backpiece in it’s full glory later in the week, so stay tuned to see for that!
Last up for today, James is on the first of many sessions booked in for a new client. She’s after symmetrical ink brush style snakes on the arms, joined together by abstract designs across the centre of the chest. As this piece is so large, today they’re focusing on completing the linework of the first snake and filling out its tail and lower body. Keen to see how this one comes along!
All around, it’s shaping up to be a pretty good start to the weekend! Though we’re backed up with appointments, we’ve always got time for spontaneous and last minute appointments. If you see something that you like and are feeling inspired, call in or walk in to discuss getting a project started! We’re keen to hear what you have in mind. And if you come in on a Saturday, maybe you’ll feature in one of these posts!
